User-Directed Analysis

UnFold is a user-directed transparency tool. We do not passively scan or index the contents of your inbox. UnFold only processes the specific email you have actively open in front of you on mail.google.com when you initiate a user-directed trigger (such as clicking an UnFold analysis prompt). Except where users explicitly authorize future inbox integrations or forwarding features, analysis happens strictly at the moment of interaction.

Data Capture & Limited Agency

Data is only captured and retained when you explicitly click the “Log Response” or “Request Disclosure” buttons, instructing UnFold to create a historical record for your personal access. By utilizing these features, you appoint UnFold to act as your limited, revocable agent solely for the purpose of facilitating, formatting, and maintaining records of user-directed transparency inquiries under applicable state privacy and transparency laws (such as the CCPA/CPRA). This limited authorization applies strictly to user-initiated actions and may be withdrawn at any time by discontinuing use of the service or deleting your records.

Data Protection & Market Insights

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Any data that can be traced back to your identity stays locked within your account. UnFold may generate, license, or provide access to anonymized, aggregated labor-market transparency insights to third parties — including civil rights researchers, journalists, and professional organizations — to support systemic accountability. These datasets contain no personal identifiers, truncate timestamps to month/year, generalize specific job titles, and are engineered to minimize the risk of re-identification.

Authorship & Platform Purpose

UnFold provides a platform for transparency and personal record-keeping. UnFold is not a law firm, litigation support service, or legal counsel, and does not provide legal or HR advice. All drafts generated by UnFold are fully editable text templates. Users remain solely responsible for reviewing, editing, approving, and assuming final authorship of all submitted communications. UnFold utilizes artificial intelligence, which can produce errors; the platform makes no guarantees regarding the legal sufficiency or regulatory compliance of generated text. Any subsequent use of your saved history for legal or administrative proceedings is at your sole discretion and responsibility.

No Guaranteed Outcome

UnFold does not guarantee that employers, recruiters, staffing agencies, or hiring platforms will respond to your inquiries, provide explanations, disclose hiring data, or alter any employment-related decisions. The tool is designed to help users navigate hiring communications with greater clarity and organizational continuity, not to enforce compliance.

Anonymization & Deletion

You retain the right to delete your personal records at any time. Upon deletion, UnFold will purge or de-identify all PII from its active production databases. Residual data within automated backups will be securely overwritten according to our standard 30-day rotation cycle. UnFold reserves the right to retain the remaining anonymized, de-identified metadata to maintain system integrity and contribute to aggregate industry trend reports.

Territorial Restriction

UnFold is intended exclusively for residents of the United States and for use within the United States. Use of this extension outside of the United States is unauthorized and constitutes a violation of these Terms. UnFold disclaims all liability for compliance with international data protections (such as the GDPR) for users who circumvent this territorial restriction.

Audit & Integrity Logs

To ensure system integrity and protect against the misuse of our automated tools, UnFold maintains a non-identifying “Logic Log” for three years. This log records the system parameters used and a metric indicating whether the user modified the draft. UnFold does not store the final content of your sent communications, ensuring you remain the final decision-maker and human author of all submitted text.
